Roberts of Todmorden

In Clocks, November 1999, pp11-13, there is an article by John Robey about a painted dial longcase clock bearing the name Roberts of Todmorden.

I have come across another longcase painted dial bearing the legend ‘Roberts Todmorden’ and have been trying to discover its background but without success.

It is located in the Dorset Masonic Museum in Poole, where the curator believes it has an Oddfellows history and not Masonic.

You will see from the photographs that the face is adorned with a mixture of Masonic and Oddfellows symbols. Strangely, the dial has two number VIIIs, though this may not be an original feature. It is possible that your readers may be able to provide some background on this clock.
