Opening French clock bezels

These bezels both front and rear, were manufactured and machined to a high standard which resulted, by design, in providing a 'snap fit' enclosure to give an almost airtight fit. Opening of such bezels often causes difficulty.

My standard modification is to fIle an unobtrusive small rectangular slot on the centre line opposite the hinge in the outer bezel. Insertion of a fInely tipped screwdriver and a slight twist easily opens such bezels. Re-opening for regular winding/hand-setting no longer presents a problem.
