Clive Pickering
Clive Pickering is a recently retired secondary schoolteacher having taught for 38 years.
He became interested in horology through a passion for woodwork, in particular the restoration of early Australian red cedar furniture. He then went through the
simple clock case restoration phase to building period style loncases for orphaned movements. He gradually became more and more interested in the repair and restoration
of clock movements and set about locating better quality movements to case and add to his collection.
Clive started writing articles for Clocks over 20 years ago and has since written articles for the Bulletin of the National Association of Watch and Clock
Collectors, woodwork magazines and the Australiana Journal.
A keen collector, his main horological focus is in collecting early English brass fial longcase and bracket clocks. He is also partial to Beidermier Vienna regulators
as well as early dial clocks,
He says: 'When my passion for clocks was in its infancy I could never in my wildest dreams have predicted the vast amount of pleasure I have derived and the absolutely
wonderful friendships I have developed over the years from my pursuit of this fascinating hobby of ours'.
